global challenges, engineering solutions

Studying at Cambridge

Inner Core Modules

In Michaelmas Term the inner core  comprises two module which all students study. The  first is called “Driving Change Towards Sustainability” which encourages a mindset change from reductionist to complexity thinking and considers both the ethics and drivers for sustainability. The module also  introduces concepts of change management and stakeholder engagement. The second module deals with “ Sustainability Methods and Metrics” by introducing suitable indicators and measurement tools, and adopts a systems approach whilst also exploring ways of problem structuring which can help in decision making when adopting a wider set of evaluation criteria.

All students also participate in a number of residential field trips and site visits through the year.
