MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development

global challenges, engineering solutions

A new book published by the International Water Association (IWA) on "Water-Wise Cities and Sustainable Water Systems: Concepts, Technologies, and Applications" (edited by Wang and Fu) includes a chapter based on the Dissertation of a former Engineering for Sustainable Development MPhil student (2017-2018), Upeshika Heenetigala.

The Chapter is entitled: "Building resilience in water supply infrastructure in the face of future uncertainties: Insight from Cape Town" and is co-authored with Leon Kapetas and Dick Fenner. The chapter develops a multi-criteria analysis based on resilience characteristics to compare possible options to alleviate current and future droughts in Cape Town. Upe is currently in Melbourne and works for CARDNO, a consultancy doing International Development projects.
